Market and Social research is about more than questions and clipboards. Evidence matters, and insight into what makes a product, business initiative or government policy work is often the hidden – yet defining – factor between success and failure. Nothing happens without good research.

The Market Research Society (MRS) Schools Outreach Programme is a series of visits to schools to raise the profile and create awareness of market research as a career, giving students aged 13 – 18 all they need to know to find their route into this engaging profession. The launch of the Market Research Executive Apprenticeship in 2022 has created a new steppingstone into the research profession, promoting social mobility and building a diverse and inclusive sector that reflects the population which it seeks to understand.

The session lasts up to 1 hour, with two speakers; a young, successful researcher and an apprentice who will give the students an overview of their career path and what a ‘day in a life’ of a young researcher is like.

Students will discover:

  • An overview of research as an industry – what it does and why it is important to the wider business world.
  • Why our speakers love it!
  • Some of the most interesting projects they’ve worked on – big brands and fascinating research studies.
  • The different ways young people can begin their career in research.
  • What is the role of a Market Research Executive Apprentice?
  • Why choose an apprenticeship? And how does it complement and fit round an apprentice’s day to day role?
  • What are the benefits of an apprenticeship and what career opportunities can it lead to?

Plus, your students can put their skills into practice with a challenge created especially for us by The Football Association (FA), looking at how The FA engages women and girls in football after the success of the UEFA Women’s EUROs 2022. Can your students help them find the best ways to involve local schools and clubs? Or the best social media channels to get their message across?

Let your students discover how research shapes the future – and how a Market Research Executive Apprenticeship can shape theirs. Book an MRS Schools Outreach Session and quench their curiosity with our Careers for Curious Minds.
