Given the increased number of devices in households with children, the audience has a greater choice of ways to view content than ever before. The BBC wanted to understand to what extent technology has changed viewing behaviour, what it’s true impact on the current media landscape is and to ascertain whether live TV has become a thing of the past. What does the future hold for traditional linear content?
Illuminas and the BBC will share how a Behavioural Economics (BE) framework was used to understand the TV viewing behaviour of children. This includes demonstrating how BE can be used to generate hypotheses before the research, inform methodologies and provide a lens through which to conduct analysis. This research was selected to be presented at The Children’s Media Conference in July and has enabled the BBC to robustly answer key stakeholder questions around how the children of today view TV.
