Why different professional standards bring us together not apart

Free session hosted by the Market Research Society with the Office for Statistics Regulation and Better Statistics.

Socioeconomic, methodological and technological challenges have always been a feature faced by research communities. In today’s world, these are present against a backdrop of declining survey response rates and ethical considerations on the use of AI.

To underpin good practice in navigating the challenges of today, and indeed the new and emerging challenges of the future, researchers and analysts rely on their professional standards.

Come and hear how the Market Research Society’s Code of Conduct and the UK Statistics Authority’s Code of Practice for Statistics together provide a bedrock for all practitioners. Understanding how these professional standards align and set the foundations of integrity in behaviour and ways of working which help inform and guide practitioners through these challenges.

Five speakers from different research and statistics backgrounds will share their insights on the importance and role of professional standards, reflecting on how they support practitioners’ work against today’s challenges.
