I'm thrilled to introduce myself as the new Chair of the Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Council for MRS. It's an honour to step into this role, following in the footsteps of Babita Earle, who has overseen so much fantastic work in this space.
As we look ahead, I'm excited to share the priorities for the EDI Council this year: Community and Consistency. These two pillars will guide our efforts as we strive for inclusivity and progress within our industry.
Community is at the heart of everything we do. It's about working together, recognising intersectionality, and ensuring that everyone has a voice and a space to be heard. I'm delighted to announce that we'll be hosting the Equality Summit on May 16th, a fantastic opportunity for us to come together and drive meaningful change. I encourage each and every one of you to attend this event which will demonstrate how a strong EDI ethos and strategy can provide commercial benefits and deliver better insights for your clients.
The MRS has also launched a Pledge Podcast, Open Windows, hosted by the lovely Mark Thorpe from Truth, and we will be collecting evidence from you and the sector later this year – we have a packed research calendar.
Consistency is key to our success. This year, we'll focus on establishing similar ways of working across our Purpose and Industry groups, supporting each one to thrive.
We will also be focusing on the business benefits of signing the Inclusion Pledge to make the case for EDI in every organisation and in every research project.
It's shaping up to be an incredible year of growth and opportunity. Huge thanks in advance to all the EDI Council members, Rebecca Cole, Sam Curtis, Jane Frost, Sinead Hasson, Daniel Singham, Danielle Todd and Sabrina Trinquetel.
I'm genuinely excited about the year ahead and the progress we'll make together. Let's continue to champion equality, diversity, and inclusion in market research, creating a more vibrant and inclusive community for all.
