The MRS Employee Engagement and Satisfaction Survey (EESS) was developed as part of MRS’ on-going People and Talent initiative.

The Survey helps businesses to better understand their workforces and benchmark their performance with other similar organizations in the sector.

The EESS covers key elements of Employee Engagement, including Culture, Management, Development & Career, Inclusion & Diversity, and Remuneration. Designed by MRS using best practices from employee research and in consultation with experts, the Survey offers various benefits:

  • Benchmark performance against the sector to identify strengths and improvement areas.
  • Measure key metrics for research-sector businesses.
  • Monitor performance to highlight priorities for improvement, enhancing employee engagement and motivation.
  • Save time and resources by participating in the cost-effective MRS survey instead of creating in-house surveys.
  • Provide evidence for award recognition, such as the MRS Research Live Best Place to Work award.

In its first pilot phase in 2024, 10 research organizations participated. Each company received a customized report showing their anonymised results benchmarked against the aggregate results from all the participating companies. The overall results were summarised in a comprehensive report which identified the key drivers for employee engagement and satisfaction. Download the EESS report here.

The 2025 Survey is now OPEN. Now is your opportunity to find out how your business compares to others in the sector.

The data collection for the survey is taking place 3rd March – 18th April with individual corporate results due to be issued in late May 2025. If you wish to participate, please complete the application form and send it to Samantha.Driscoll@mrs.org.uk
