My lived experience as a deafblind person working in research

With 10 years of experience in the charity and research sectors, Molly has faced both rewarding and challenging experiences. Through her work, she strives to make a positive impact on inclusion in sport and physical activity for disabled people. In this session, Molly will discuss how she navigates research accessibility, the tools she’s developed to access and evaluate information, and her passion for ensuring inclusive practices in research.

Speaker Bio: Molly is a Senior Research and Insight Advisor at Activity Alliance, a national charity that focuses on improving inclusion for disabled people in sport and physical activity. As someone who is deafblind, Molly combines her expertise in research with a unique lived experience, making her work particularly meaningful. She is dedicated to creating a more accessible research landscape and advocating for inclusive practices that empower all individuals, regardless of their abilities.

Kathryn is the Founding Director of True Insights. Kathryn has made a significant and award-winning contribution to research across multiple sectors for over 20 years. She is best known for her work helping charities and other organisations including broadcasters reach, connect, engage, and create a sense of belonging for Seldom Heard Audiences.

Kathryn has published on the representation and portrayal of marginalised groups including those with disabilities on TV. She has presented a disruptive innovation (creative thinking) seminar at an Institute of Fundraising Conference and a published paper related to charities at an MRS Annual Conference.

Kathryn has an early-stage certification in counselling and is recognised for her ability to design and execute research with Seldom-Heard Audiences. Kathryn is a Certified Member of the Market Research Society and an MRS Mentor.
